Pain and some swelling in wrist on the lower thumb side. no injury. took meloxicam for 2 days, how long should it take to start seeing improvement.

Tendinitis: It sounds like a de Quervain's tendinitis of the wrist. Meloxicam probably will not help very much but can be tried for 7-10 days. Splinting, ice and a local cortisone injection are other options.
