See answer below: A muscle spasm, as seen in association with ms, is an involuntary muscle contraction. It can happen as a single brief contraction or in a longer lasting rythmic fashion with multiple successive contractions of a muscle group. It usually happens more than once and can frequently be seen in the legs at the end of the day or at night when it can disrupt sleep.

Generic answer: Not sure what you mean by "twitch". The face can flicker due to facial myokymia, which may be a lesion in the brainstem. Electrical shocks in upper back or chest, can indicate problems within spinal cord in neck. An MS hug can represent abnormal tightness over chest or abdomen due to spinal cord lesion. Short circuiting can result in brief tonic spasms. Each needs different approaches.
