Yes: The lh surge occurs during the mid portion of the menstrual cycle & signals the ovary to release a mature follicle (egg) for possible fertilization. Some women cramp with ovulation, a phenomenon known as mittelschmertz. Ovulation typically occurs 24-36 hours after the lh surge, around day 16-18 of the menstrual cycle.
