Keep it clean: Keep it covered with a bandaid as long as it is tender or sensitive to you. Once the nail bed is all dried out, the new nail is forming and it is no longer painful, then covering it is optional.

Not really: Unless there is pain, drainage, redness, or complicated medical history, you can just keep an eye on your toe and let it grow out naturally. If there are any issues, see your podiatrist.
