How many days does it take for the swelling to go down if tooth has abscess?

It might not: Only treatment will eliminate the infection once a tooth is abscessed. The tooth needs a root canal or needs to be removed.

Depends: There are 2 major types of dental abscess: tooth, nerve breakdown requiring root canal treatment or gum and bone support breakdown requiring periodontal treatment. In either case, if the problem is severe enough, tooth removal may be the only treatment. Antibiotics may reduce the problem but definitive dentistry treats the cause. See your dentist asap.
