A member asked:

How long can cotinine remain in your system after smoking a cigarette?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on test: and, to some extent, how heavy a smoker you are. It is generally short-acting, and can be detected in blood and urine for 2-3 days, and with oral swabs for perhaps a day or so more after that. Hair testing can go back months, depending on length of hair and growth rate.
