No: It used to be thought that the addition of medications such as ranitidine or Famotidine may be helpful since they do block one of the histamine receptors. However, current guidelines do not support the use of the medications in the treatment of hives.

Whenever I get hot I start to itch, I had hives prior but they're gone I'm currently on zantac (ranitidine) and Zyrtec (Costco brand). It doesn't seem to work.
