Podiatrist: The podiatrist is specialized in everything involving the foot. I would see a podiatrist immediately, they can prescribe antibiotics if needed as well as determine if there is a need for surgery, admission to the hospital, or underlying cause that led to infection.

Podiatrist: I am a podiatrist so I am biased. Podiatrist go to collage for 4 years, podiatric medical school for 4 years and then a 3 year residency. They treat the feet and the structures that affect the feet (calf and in ga treat up to the hip). That is what they do and they are good at it. They are doctors of the feet and ankle. Do not go to a podiatrist for your cold or heart condition etc.
