Yes, on the right: The appendix is attached to the cecum, the first part of the colon, usually located in the right lower part of the abdomen. In women, the right ovary is in the vicinity of the appendix. Sometimes, the appendix is tucked up under the cecum (retrocecal), and it would not be as close. Sometimes, the intestines are situated in an abnormal position (malrotation), and the appendix would be elsewhere.
