A member asked:

Is it safe! for a doctor to give morphine to a pregnant mother?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

With caution yes: any time opiates given to a pregnant woman the benefit to the mother must outweigh the risk to the baby. There is no reason to believe it will hurt the baby's development but EVERYONE needs to know the mother is on morphine and prepare for the baby to withdraw after delivery. Be certain everyone is on the same page.
