See below: Amoxicillin and Cephalexin have different antibacterial spectra. If an infecting organism is sensitive to both drugs they will work equally well. But if an infection is due to enterococcus Amoxicillin will usually work while Cephalexin will not. Conversely if an infection is due to mssa Cephalexin will work while Amoxicillin will not.
