Try this: Keep well hydrated. A couple times a day elevate your legs above your heart, as easy as lying on the couch with your feet on the armrest. Take a single Aspirin a day. If you must be up on your feet for extended period of time, wrap your legs toe to knee (or thigh) with elastic wraps (ace.) good luck.

Decrease congestion : Best thing is to elevate ur legs but tough to do when u have b on ur feet for work etc. Next best thing is pressure stockings this could b non-prescription strength (white kind) or graduated pressure stocking (these cost a lot more).

Compression stocking: Wear 20-30 mmhg compression stockings, stay hydrated, exercise, elevate your legs and take a baby Aspirin if you have no contraindications. Alternatively, you could just get them fixed definitively by a vein specialist or phlebologist. Phlebology.Org for referrals. No excuse not to do that.

See Vein Specialist.: If you have varicose veins then you should be evaluated by a vein specialist with a venous duplex ultrasound. You may never develop thrombophlebitis and there are precautionary measures that you can take including wearing support hose, keeping fit with exercise and keeping the weight down. However, if the veins are extensive and you have symptoms then treating the veins would be the best choice.
