Very similar: Atorvastatin (lipitor) is a little more potent, milligram for milligram than Simvastatin (zocor). Both have good outcome data. Both are safe. But either can cause muscle aches (in up to 10% of people) which is dependent on the dose. If muscle aches occur, a lower dose should be tried.
