No : It depends on your risk factors & family history. But if you've never had a colonoscopy, it probably should be done. At least discuss it with your doctor. It's not wise to just ignore it. You really don't know, aside from your hemorrhoids, whether there is another lesion higher up that's bleeding. Moreover, if you have bloody diarrhea (dysentery), there's more to check on.

Now: Now is the time to worry. If you have significant rectal bleeding you need to have the problem evaluated now.

Need evaluation: The description seem to suggest bleeding external hemorrhoid. Which is easily treated with control of constipation and hemorrhoidal cream. If you have pops you need evaluation based on the type of polyp.

No: Bright red bleeding from rectum could hemorrhoids but also could be a bleeding colon polyps, diverticulosis/diverticulitis, or colon cancer. In my opinion you need a colonoscopy asap.

Probably hemorrhoid: What you think is a polyp is probably an internal hemorrhoid. No one bleeds to death from a hemorrhoid, but they can become very painful quickly. You need a surgeon to take a look and he can probably band your hemorrhoids while he's looking.
