The frequency of....: Stooling in an infant is a very dynamic thing. If by constipated you mean they aren't stooling as frequently, this may be normal. I'd focus on the quality of the stool. If its soft with a formed quality, you are probably fine. If its hard and pellet like, they may be constipated and would benefit from more fruits and veggies with higher fiber content. If loose, may be encopresis. I'd talk2 you dr.

Real constipation?: First, decide whether a baby has constipation or has normal stools that come out only every few days. A baby has constipation if he has to push hard to get his poop out, even if the poop itself isn't hard. If poop really is firm, then the baby is constipated even if he doesn't need to push to get the poop out. A glycerin suppository is one of the first treatments for a constipated older infant.
