Yes.: Biomechanical orthotics change how the muscles in your feet and legs function during the gait cycle. For this reason, we instruct our patients to break in a new pair of orthotics over time, so as to not put too much strain on the muscles. Another answer is they might need to be adjusted. Talk to the doctor who prescribed them, who may also give you stretching exercises to do.

Muscle aches: Custom orthotics can cause muscle aches if you are not used to standing and bearing weight in the correct position. Your muscles should adjust within 2-3 weeks. If pain continues beyond that, follow up with your podiatrist to ensure that the orthotics fit correctly.
