Seroma: The likely cause of fluid leak from a wound, particularly if you have a large amount of abdominal wall is a seroma. The fluid is the result of trauma to the fat and tissues of the abdominal wall and can drain for days. If mesh was used in the repair, the drainage can be more concerning or if there is redness around the wound, the drainage can represent infection. Not dangerous but notify surgeon.
