Has antioxidants: There is evidence that those who have about 1 drink of alcohol a day have better health than those who don't drink at all or who drink larger amounts, with lower risk of heart disease, cancer & alzheimer's. Red wine may be the healthiest choice because it contains proanthocyanidans, which are antioxidant flavonoids. See http://www.Huffingtonpost.Com/2011/10/19/red-wine-health_n_1018934.Html.

Eat 2 Beat CA, Pt.11: RED GRAPES: Red grapes & the red wine they produce are loaded with resveratrol, which inhibits cancer-cell growth & causes cancer cells to self-destruct. According to recent findings, resveratrol remains effective--& may be more powerful--after it's metabolized by the body. The compound is found in peanuts, cranberries, & blueberries too.
