Different illnesses: It's near impossible to specifically answer your general question aside from following: all "mental" patients are not the same b/c not all "mental" conditions/diseases are the same. In fact, they're all very different. Depression is what makes someone kill him/herself while paranoid psychosis can lead one to kill others.
