Need to see someone: Could be a lymph node. Could also be a hernia. This latter possibility might make give abdominal pain. If so, thats's bad and he needs to be seen soon, like today.

Lump maybe a concern: It is possible that your son may have an inguinal hernia which is when a piece of bowel pokes through the abdominal wall near the groin area. It can be very serious if the testicle comes through that opening and gets stuck. If he is having pain, you should seek medical attention immediately. This can be considered an emergency.
