A member asked:

When i stretch my elbows i hear a cracking sound. what does it mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Your hearing is OK: The physical mechanism causing a cracking sound produced by bending, twisting, or compressing joints is unclear. It may be small cavities of partial vacuum form in the synovial fluid and then rapidly collapse, rapid stretching of ligaments. Intra-articular adhesions being broken or tendons snapping over bony prominences.
