Varies: It can take many days to weeks for the symptoms of a degenerating fibroid (typically pain) to resolve. Infection of the degenerating tissue is possible. If your symptoms increase or if you are running a fever, see your doctor.

Menopause: Most fibroids do not degenerate on their own while ample estrogen is around and they are not too big. Once you go through menopause the estrogen levels drop and fibroids begin to die and shrink.
