Atherosclerosis: Heart attack is caused by atherosclerotic plaque in your coronary artery that ruptures such that a blood clot forms on it and acutely occluded the flow through the artery causing the heart attack. Risk factors for atherosclerosis include smoking, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, family history, obesity, diabetes. Heartburn is related to reflux of acid and can be mistaken for mi.

.??: Heart pain and damage is very dangerous. Gas from upper or lower GI tract can be unpleasant , belching, flatus and crampy but not usually life threatening.
