Generally 6 weeks: Most healing of surgical incisions are strongest after 6 weeks. However, an elliptical doesn't necessarily put much strain on your abdominal area. I recommend that my patients resume light work outs on the bicycle or elliptical after 4 weeks and gradually increase their level of activity to where they were by 6 weeks. Make sure your surgeon agrees before starting any exercise program.
