No: Elevated ESR - sed rate is caused by inflammation. Although inflammation can make it difficult to lose weight, obesity doesn't by itself cause an elevated sed rate.

There actually: Is evidence that extreme obesity can lead to elevated ESRs but only not really to any significant degree. It appears to be related to increased fibrinogen levels that is seen with obesity.
