Dark Purple: An intraoral blood clot is usually dark purple in color and almost gelatinous in nature. Do not disturb it with gargling or rinsing and you will help avoid a dry socket.

Healing socket color: The colors of a healing socket will change depending on the stage of healing. Initially the socket will look black/ purple when the tooth is removed. The black/purple color is the blood clot. After the area starts to heal the blood clot may turn a yellowish white hue. When the area starts to close up the gum tissue may appear pink or red. It really depends on the stage of healing.
