Rare: A very specific brain tumor on the 5th cranial nerve can cause jaw pain. The 5th cranial nerve or trigeminal nerve gives sensation to the the face. Its lower branch goes to the jaw. A tumor (such as a schwannoma or meningioma) on this nerve can lead to the pain. Treatment is neurosurgery or gamma knife radiation depending on the size.
