Varies. : Kub is an abdominal/pelvic x-ray (abbreviated for: kidneys-ureters-bladder). Both terms are now essentially interchangeable, although kub is more used when a physician suspects the possibility of, or is following a kidney stone, or is interested in evaluating the bowel gas pattern. Other studies are also used for abdominal/kub evaluations. Best to ask your md what is being evaluated.
