A member asked:

Why are absolute lymphocytes important?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Immune system: Absolute lymphocytes refers only to the number of lymphocytes present in the blood (as opposed to the percentage). Lymphocytes are important as they participate in the immune system and help us to fight off viral infections, give us immunity, monitor our bodies for the presence of "non-self" including cancer cells and fight encapsulated organisms.
