A member asked:

Accidentally skipped a dose of my zoloft, and now i feel kind of nauseous and anxious. normal? also, how is wellbutrin (bupropion) different than zoloft?

Very different: Zoloft acts via serotonin in the brain, whereas wellbutrin (bupropion) acts primarily via Dopamine & secondarily buy serotonin. As a result, they affect individuals very differently. Zoloft will treat anxiety is well as depression, which is its greater benefit. Welllbutrin, because it increases activation, can actually gives people more energy but can make people more anxious. Call your doc to talk about it!

Yes; very different: First, abrupt discontinuation of zoloft (an ssri antidepressant) can lead to a variety of physical symptoms, including nausea; and possibly a return of some anxiety (if it was prescribed to treat anxiety). Wellbutrin (bupropion) is in a different chemical class - it works on norepinephrine and dopamine, and not serotonin. It is also an antidepressant but is not generally prescribed for anxiety conditions.
