Yes: Though the dsdna is helpful in assessing severity of lupus in some patients, it is not a requirement to have dsdna to be diagnosed with lupus. In fact, laboratory tests help confirm a suspected diagnosis of lupus but lab tests never make or disprove the diagnosis by themselves.
