Depends on site: See a dermatologist or aesthetic surgeon to evaluate the scar. Long-term pain in scars is not too common, and may indicate a problem within the scar itself. You did not mention location, reason for scarring, etc. They will ask those questions and examine. Sometimes injections help quiet unstable scarring.
