Salt and Stockings: After a thorough evaluation by your physician to rule out a circulation or neuropathy problem he/she might start by recommending a no added salt diet and support stockings (knee high) when you are going to be on your feet for any prolonged period. Ankles swell when patients may have a circulation problem such as the beginning of congestive heart failure from deconditioning or high blood pressure.
