Humira (adalimumab): Humira (adalimumab) would not be expected to work within 24 hours of its start. As far as otc drugs to take, it's always good to get a "blessing" from your treating doc, so he'd be aware of what's going on. There may be that certain medications are contraindicated, so i'd rather have you call your doc and consult with him.

Yes: You can try aleve (naproxen) or advil but they have limited value. Often a small dose of Prednisone is very helpful until the Humira becomes effective. Discuss this issue with your rheumatologist.
