Acne is chronic: Since acne lasts for years, you should take the Doxycycline for several months. At that time you and your doctor will have to decide if you should stop it or continue it. The newer thinking is, that to reduce drug resistance, it should be discontinued and used intermittently, but that doesn't work for everyone.

No: They will, unfortunately, return. Doxycycline is not a permanent cure.
