Since the test: Was abnormal once, it should be repeated at a later date. An ionized calcium test would also be useful to check the amount of active calcium in your blood, as 1/2 of the total calcium is bound and inactive.

You are on Methotrexate and that, rarely, cause h. I think your physician is correct and your calcium level should be checked in 3 months. Discuss with your physician.
