One episode of hypercalcemia @11.2. bldwk afterward shows high normal. pcp says no need to worry since w/i normal. should i continue repeat test?

Since the test: Was abnormal once, it should be repeated at a later date. An ionized calcium test would also be useful to check the amount of active calcium in your blood, as 1/2 of the total calcium is bound and inactive.

Hypercalcemia ?: Hypercalcemia (h) is caused by various entities. It could be due to dehydration, hyperparathyroidism, hyperthyroidism, tumors metastatic to bone, patients on hydrochlorthiazide and those patients taking large doses of vit. D. You are on Methotrexate and that, rarely, cause h. I think your physician is correct and your calcium level should be checked in 3 months. Discuss with your physician.
