There is an : Association between intraoperitive use of no and postoperative nausea and vomiting after general anesthesia. Your question is excellent. I believed comes from central and from changes in middle ear pressure or bowel distention during use. My colleagues may possibly disagree with me. Recent data minimized the effect. Ponv can be prevented after surgery. Medication and adequate hydration important.

PONV: I did a quick search and found the below link: http://www.Writework.Com/essay/introduction-thesis-nitrous-oxide-nausea-and-vomiting there seems to be a number of possible mechanisms all coming into play, not just one thing. Everyone tolerates the gas slightly differently.
