Avoid stress & sleep: Depression is caused by a combination of factors which include our biological predispositions as well as psychological and social stressors. Getting rid of depression therefore requires a holistic approach that may include treatment with medication(s), improved physical activity, keeping a regular sleep pattern and management of stressful situations. Cognitive therapy helps with the latter.

Depression remedies: Include exercising, engaging in social interaction & engrossing activities, practicing gratitude, doing kind things for others, learning and practicing stress management, developing and committing to meaningful goals, avoiding negative thinking & negative comparisons with others, and talking to empathic & trusted people. If those aren't enough, talk to a mental health professional.
