It could/depends,,,: This isn't very high, but it is slightly over normal or at high normal depending on the lab range. It could mean some liver injury like from drinking or a mild illness. It also might mean liver changes like fatty liver, but it is kind of low for that. However, it would be wise to see your doctor for a full liver panel and to get on a weight loss program so that serious damage may be avoided.

Elevated LFT: Yes, your alt is elevated. However, based on one time measurement, it is hard to tell whether it is a random elevation or it is a chronic liver problem. I usually repeat alt and ast (SGOT) within the next 6 months. If still elevated, then i recur to chronic viral hepatitis panel to rule out hep. B/c. If that is negative, I do other bloodwork and get a liver ultrasound.
