A member asked:

Can antidepressants alter personalities forever?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No : Antidepressants restore the mood. Once the mood is back to normal the personality should go back to its normal state. Failure to recover from depression is what alters personality. Recovery does nothing but bring the persons personality back closer to where it was before the illness. Therapy is generally needed as well as medication and is the greater mode of personality change.
