Many causes, ?nerve : There are many causes of these symptoms, most of which are harmless but irritating. One possibility is a phenomenon called occipital neuralgia, where the occipital nerve that wraps around the back of the skull to the scalp gets irritated. This can be treated by a neurologist if the symptoms are intrusive enough.
