A member asked:

Can i takr lysine while pregnant or when nursing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably okay: Lysine is an essential Amino Acid that is required in your diet. The recommended daily allowances are increased during pregnancy and breast-feeding. It crosses the placenta and is found in breast milk. It is sometimes taken to prevent recurrent herpes infections. Talk with you doctor about the dose that can be taken during pregnancy. Essentially, though, it is safe to take in normal doses.
