Fluid retention: Menstrual migraine is well known, it is due to fluid retention due to hormonal levels. You may have noticed a mild increase in weight just before the periods. Restriction of fluids or a mild diuretic for a few days before the periods may help.

Hormones: Menstrual migraine is a diagnosis in and of itself. There is a hormonal basis for it.
