A member asked:

How is cholinergic urticaria treated? had it for 4 years. antihistamines aren't working. septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) was the only thing. once i finished it, it came back.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Allergist: Cholinergic urticaria can be very hard to treat me. Typically, I start with antihistamines. Often very high doses are needed. There Are some other options if that isn't working. I recommend seeing a board site certified allergist for further evaluation. Septea is not used for cholinergic urticaria.
