A member asked:

Blood pressure for a couple of weeks high 150-170/80-95 at home. doctor wants me to monitor for a couple of weeks, isn't this too high - need 2nd med?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Blood pressure spike: Long-term risk for a heart attack or stroke in is much higher for a blood pressure (BP) of 170 compared with 120, however not likely an immediate threat. If your BP is typically normal, then if normal after 2 weeks of avoiding salt, caffeine, alcohol, decongestants, nsaids, and of practicing relaxation exercises, changes in medication probably won't be made.
