Stopping bleeding: Consider ocp's , Mirena (levonorgestrel) or ablation of the endometrium, although i tell patients that the only 100% way is with hyst.

I agree. Continuous or low-dose ocp's, mirena IUD, or endometrial ablation will do the trick most of the time.

No, please do: No, please shower during menstruation for good hygiene. Sitting in a bathtub would tend to be a bit unseemly without a tampon or pad aside from the infection risk from "dirty" water entering the vagina.

When it ends: is when it ends. Typically, if you have had cycles before, you know from the day of the cycle and flow pattern to give you some idea.
