Quickly: The pain would arise immediately and would not improve. The infectious issues related to the perforation would set in in just a few hours, including fever, chills and signs of peritonitis with distention. However, if you suspect this, immediate visit to the er is recommended. I hope for the best and my thoughts are with you guys.

Quick/never seen it: Many parents struggle to get an accurae temperature and i don't know many kids who welcome the rectal thermometer.In over 3 decades I have never seen or heard of a case where the thermometer perforated the rectum. The siln there is quite resilient, even in a kicking kid.
