CMC Synovitis: As a hand surgeon i can tell you i see more patients with basilar thumb problems than carpal tunnel these days. The joint is inherently not very stable and young females can develop really painful instability of this joint. The concern long term of course is development of arthritis so i would definitely get this checked out. Hope this helps!
