Risk control : Hyperthyroidism is not a typical risk factor for coronary disease however it can potentially increase you risk by increasing bp. It can also lead to other cardiac conditions such as heart failure & therefore should be treated. With a strong family history, one should be evaluated & treated for modifiable risk factors. Recommend seeing an md with preventative cardiology expertise.

You have a : Higher risk of a heart attack because of genetics and smoking. I don't know if you have any other risk factors. Treated hyperthyroidism won't increase your risk. Most important factor is controlling your heart rate and blood pressure. In the precense of increase BP and hr, an unbalanced o2 delivery:demand may increase risk of heart attack in the precense of stablish cad. See your physician.
