I am trying to : Theorize about this (as it is normally the other way around). However, if what was actually a depressive or anxious symptom was attributed to the medication & it resolved on a higher dose (then it could be perceived as fewer side effects on the lower dose). Take care.

Metabolism: Whenever ssri medications are first started it can happen that for a short while you may feel worse as the chemicals in your body are affected. Once your body has overcome the initial period, medications are then titrated to your symptoms.
